VelociMouse technology enables the immediate generation of genetically altered mice directly from modified embryonic stem (ES) cells, thereby avoiding the need to generate and breed chimeras (mice derived from a combination of modified and unmodified ES cells). This technology offers time and cost savings over other approaches currently being used, including blastocyst injection, tetraploid aggregation, and tetraploid microinjection.

Multiple Modifications in a Single ES Cell

VelociMouse technology also enables the rapid creation of mice with complex genetic manipulations by allowing scientists to make multiple modifications in the same ES cells. This approach greatly reduces or eliminates extensive crossbreeding of mice targeted one gene at a time.
